Places to shop, and nonprofits to support

Australia

Places to shop:

This is a sizable mall so might as well experience an arcade if you need to pick up something or are
inclined to shop and explore Australian designers.

This is a smaller and more charming mall than the larger Queen Victoria Building, so if you have time for just one arcade this would be my pick.

Places to read:

No good exploration of a city is complete without locating the good bookstores with great literature on the country and city one is in. Readings is one of these treasure troves.

Non - profits to support:

I have a whole post on this beautiful social initiative.   The secret to Lentil As Anything’s success has been catering to the community that each of the 4 restaurants serves, encouraging them to support an organization which helps to support them.  Many of the local supermarkets donate food to the restaurants and you pay for meals by depositing a discretionary amount into the contribution box.  It's a beautiful symbiosis that really works. I sincerely encourage you to stop by and enjoy the concept for yourself if you are near one of their 4 locations.

This is the subject of a post coming up! So life-affirming to see these shops and be given the choice
to shop and gift humanely.

I love that there is a physical shop!

The next post after this one is on this amazing project - an independently-accredited, ethical trading enterprise that provides employment and training in the fashion industry to people from refugee and new migrant communities in clothing production, retail, design, and marketing. Also, around 50% of their fabrics are leftover fabrics, offcuts, sample swatches and trims donated by fashion designers and saved from landfills. Simply wow! So read up all about it in two weeks 🙂
